Old Glory

Americans are very proud of their flag. This flag as a lot of history to it. A history that is dark as well as bright. If you are interested, here is a film on about the story of the flag.

@tyan: Just about every place. i think that the danger of having flags all over the place is that they begin to be taken for granted.

Its interesting to learn about the US flag. From my visits to the States, they are everywhere, and people are very proud of it. Thats quite strange for some non US folk (well Brits at any rate), as hardly anyone flies the union jack over here (the UK flag), and the only time the English cross of St George (English flag) appears is during an international footie match, (and after our recent rubbish performances in the Euro qualifiers, its not very proudly waved at the moment !!!).

Lovely control on the exposure here, the DOF really draws attention to the flag.

you are right, it is very interesting to see how the flag is cherished in the US. I see more and more people in my own country are trying to create such a cult around our flag as well, but I must say most efforts have a commercial tint to it, which is definitely not the same thing

Absolutely stunning composition of this flag. Thank you so much too for sharing this video. I found it truly fascinating to learn of the long history of the American flag through it. My home country (Singapore – also a former British colony)’s flag, also has stars on it, although far fewer, and with no stripes; instead, a crescent moon. :)
