Self Portrait: My DreadlocksPosted by Rags (Plano, United States) on 29 September 2007 in People & Portrait. I cut my dreadlocks thinking that it would motivate me to find a better job and at least get myself from that financial predicament that I am in. I has been a month and still have not even started to find a job because is seem to lack motivation. I will eventually come around to getting another job. Hopefully this image will remind and motivate me to do so.

Shawna from Regina, CanadaAhhh. I am sad for you to cut off your pride and joy. Please find a job you like then you will stay and will not have to find another one and do this to yourself again. 29 Sep 2007 5:06am @Shawna: Thanks Shawna! I will take your advise and begin looking diligently for a job next week. Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesOH such symbolism! Spectacular Image! Well done, and good luck my dear, i understand your struggle, having pink hair and trying to find a job, is also hard. I empathize with the sacrifice you have made. 29 Sep 2007 6:34am @Rabbit: Thanks Rabbit! Thanks for empathizing. Mandy from Johannesburg, South Africahahahaha - what an interesting picture. I hope you find that job soon Rags - good luck with the search! 29 Sep 2007 6:41am @Mandy: Thanks Mandy! I hope that your shooting of the wedding goes well, or rather went well. I cannot wait to see what you took with your new camera. @Hans: Thanks Hans. rainsocks from Singaporewahaha... that is such a funny picture!!! Great one, Rags!! Wolfgang Prigge from CanadaGreat idea and symbolism in this photo. I guess I was lucky to get a job that I loved for 35 years and that allowed me to keep my beard.... 29 Sep 2007 12:30pm e. from Washington DC, United StatesGood luck with your job search! Haha what a silly idea, eating your dreads. 29 Sep 2007 12:48pm @e.: I know its kinda crazy. A Kenyan lady told me one day after i had cut my hair that it was wise that i had cut my hair because i can't eat my own hair. She meant that if my hair was stopping me from getting a well paying job to put food on my table then cutting it was the only wise thing to do. @jelb: Ça va jelb. Thanks for coming by. Markus from Reading, United KingdomFunny shot! Hope it did satisfy your appetite! =^D 29 Sep 2007 1:30pm @Markus: lol! Morris J. Chisholm from Thunder Bay - Land of the Sleeping Giant, CanadaGreat image Rags well done. 29 Sep 2007 2:37pm @Morris J. Chisholm: Thank you very much. I appreciate you coming by. tyan from Singapore, Singaporemy goodness,it must have been such pain to part with your dreadlocks...i remember i cut my very long hair many years back to a crew cut because i was out of love!haha..Come to think of it,it wasnt so worth it for a scumbag..lol.I wish you all the best in getting a new job, press on!thanks so much for your kidn words at my blog, you are too nice! 29 Sep 2007 4:44pm @tyan: Thanks. I am glad you left the scumbag and married your husband. You seem to adore and respect him as well as the children the both of you made. Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaI hope you aren't like Sampson and loose your photographic strength ;-) 29 Sep 2007 6:16pm @Michael Rawluk: Fortunately, Delilah did not snip away my photographic skill. In some weird, I way feel more empowered and determined to make better photos, with or without my hair. Anyway, hair can always grow back. Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWow, that's a really great image! Meaningful and funny. I hope you can find your mojo now and find that way to make some coin. 29 Sep 2007 8:30pm @Damon Schreiber: LOL! Thanks man! Lost Valley View from Kamloops, CanadaYou cut them off? NOOOOOOO!!!!! I wish you much luck with your employment search! 29 Sep 2007 8:42pm @Lost Valley View: lol! Thanks Lost Valley View. Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomOh no man, that must have been hard. About fourteen years ago I had long dreadlocks that went half way down my back, after years of growing them when I lived 'off the grid' in the Republic of Ireland.....but I cut them off with some clippers for similar reasons to you - and like you, it didn't help much at the time. Still, I got a decent job eventually, but by then I'd grown my hair again, but it was a mohican rather than dreads.....Now I'm just growing grey.... 29 Sep 2007 9:28pm @Richard_Irwin: lol! It is good to know that you know how it feels to cut ones dreadlocks. Sometimes i wish i hadn't, but the reality of the matter is that there is a time for everything and now was the appropriate time to do so. My hope is that i will eventually get a job that will sustain me and make me conclude that i made the right decision. Rob from Velveetaville, United StatesI see a message of "I can't eat my dreadlocks so I better get a good job"... that's what emotion that I felt anyway. Great capture Rags. Rob 29 Sep 2007 9:59pm @Rob: You are definitely right! The rough swahili translation would be "siwezi kula nywele!" Thanks for getting what i was trying to say. Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanCool shot Rags, good luck with your job hunt, blessings, =) 29 Sep 2007 10:13pm @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thank you Alfredo. Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomWow, Kanyi, this is a really powerful image, and you are a very brave man (both in baring your head and in baring your soul). Many salutations from me to you. I have no doubt that with such sterling spirit in you, you have infinitely better things ahead of you. My very best of wishes and blessings for the immediate job search and the further road ahead. Godspeed to you! :) 30 Sep 2007 1:41am @Rebecca: Thanks Rebecca. I appreciate your encouragement and well wishes. Ginnie from Atlanta, GA, United StatesI hope this has the opposite effect it had on Samson, Rags! :D I wish you lots of strength and energy to do what you need to do to find the job that fits who you are. Just do it! 30 Sep 2007 2:24am deji77 from United KingdomWOOOOOAAAHH! that's a lot of hair! 1 Oct 2007 11:15pm Bron from Canberra, AustraliaFabulous Rags! Hope you find that better job soon! 6 Oct 2007 7:17pm Seraphine from San Francisco, United StatesLol. I don't know how I missed this one. I was going back, enjoying your photos, and saw this. What a wonderful sense of humor. Hie thee out to get a job though, it would be a shame to have cut those beautiful locks off for nothing! 10 Nov 2007 7:25am |
